Because one can't eat art
"Brood Casting" is a whimsical yet profound series of sculptures that combines the technique
of metal casting with a playful and conceptual approach. Inspired by the wordplay between
'Broadcast' and 'Brood' (bread in Dutch), the project centers on creating metal bread slices,
representing both humor and the necessity of sustenance for artists.
Although the work appears light and humorous, it conceals a deeper reflection on the survival
needs of artists and the creative means they employ to achieve it. Combined with the childlike and fragmented aspect of the bread slices, Brood Casting harkens back to the avant-
garde movements of the early 20th century, where the idea behind a work was often moreimportant than its realistic representation.
About Bruno Kristo:
Bruno Kristo is a visual artist whose practice bridges prehistoric and modern worlds.
His work combines childlike forms with meticulous execution, evoking a delicate contrast between play and precision.
He crafts his creations using various metals, as well as MDF, silicone, and whatever else fitshis purpose. He bends his materials to imagination through an array of master-level skills
which he's been developing and continuously refining over the course of nearly three decades
of academic study, apprenticeship with experts, and hands-on experience and experimentation.
As in Paleolithic art, Kristo forgoes words, inviting you to anchor yourself in sight and feeling.
